Do you have a old prom or bridesmaids dress hanging in your closet?

Our school district is doing a “Formals for Five” Dress Donation program (people donate dresses for girls to buy for $5 to wear to the prom) and I thought it was such a great idea that I wanted to pass it along so maybe some of you will do it in your communities.

Here’s how it works:

There are drop off locations (people’s front porches) set up all over the school district where women call drop off gently used (or new) dresses, bags and jewelry so that all girls attending Prom and graduation festivities have nice things to wear. The items are then arranged in a room at the high school, set up like a boutique and the girls are able to “shop” for prom after school, paying just $5 for a dress (all proceeds will be donated to the PTA or a local charity)

So… go dig through your closet, be a leader in your community and organize this program…  what a wonderful thing to do to raise the self-confidence of young girls!!
